Tile floors are quickly becoming the hot new look for most upscale homes. Adding this look to your house will make it appear much more elegant and sophisticated. Even if you don't know anything about tiling a floor, it's not hard to learn how to lay ceramic tile.

The first step in laying tile is to put down thinset on a clean, bare subfloor surface. One method for doing so is to use a pencil to draw the shape that you want to cut. Draw it directly on the tile. Use a glass cutter to score the lines you drew, and then also score lines in the area you want cut off. Then use a tile nipper or pliers to chip away small chips until you've achieved the desired shape.
